Bob B, Could you take some pictures of the speakers and add as a attachment?

Re: OA-14 Questions
No worries Bob!
Peerless has unfortunately managed to label the 8 Ohm version with 4 Ohm. I have received woofers labelled 4 Ohm and so have other members of the CarlssonPlanet community. It has been discussed in this thread:
http://carlssonplanet.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1480
The dc-resistance of the 8 Ohm version should be about 5,9 Ohm (the 16 Ohm version should be about 12,9 Ohm and the 5,3 Ohm version should be about 4,6 Ohm).
The fact that your woofers are wrongly labelled 4 Ohm might just indicate that they are the correct Carlsson woofers with 8 Ohm nominal impedance!
Best regards

Re: OA-14 Questions
This restoration has not been easy. Peerless is marking the drivers incorrectly, and I am having trouble finding a web translator that will let me read the Swedish in the suggested posts. Anybody have a link to a good free website translator - Swedish to English? Please?
I cant wait to see what Madisound has to say on Monday.
Thanks again fellows!!

Re: OA-14 Questions
Bob,
I must have got the other 2 woofers from the order Madisound made to Denmark. Mine came in on Friday and I spent yesterday and today working on the restore of my OA14s. I got one completely done - new CT62 tweeters mounted using the wood block method described in the restore section of this site. Everything went smooth.
Your post is making me a little nervous as I didn't really look closely at the markings on the woofers - just checked the part number. I'll go check the one not mounted yet to see what it says as far as ohms. I can say that the speaker I finished this weekend sounds great! I turned my stereo to mono and had the restored on the right, the unrestored on the left and can hear the difference in clarity. This test should confirm that the woofers I got are 8 ohm as I would assume a 4ohm woofer would be a very noticeable mismatch in sound. Other than the clarity between the old and new there was not a noticeable difference in volume level.
UPDATE: I just checked the one I haven't installed yet and it says 4 ohm on the peerless sticker on the back. I took my multimeter and checked the ohms with it and it reads 5.8 so it confirms that it is an 8ohm part.
This should confirm that you got the right ones Bob. Get to that restore job!
Cheers,
Mitch

Re: OA-14 Questions
The essence of the Swedish text is that Peerless mistakenly labeled the drivers as 4 ohms, when they should in fact be rated 8 ohms. Since I take it the item number of the drivers from Madisound is correct you can safely install them.

Re: OA-14 Questions
Greetings,
Madisound has confirmed the drivers are 8 ohm, and I installed them on Friday. I've maybe 20 hours on them now, and they are starting to loosen up and play a little bass. Wasnt sure I beleived that surrounds needed to break in, but this weekends experience leads me to beleive the stories. The bass was pretty weak when I first hooked them up. Now, it's starting to come around. The good news is these speakers sound just as good as I remember from about 30 YEARS ago! I guess Stig really new what he was up to.
I'll post again when they are fully loosened up.
Thanks for your help everybody.

Re: OA-14 Questions
Hi, this is a very intersting thread. I have a pair of OA116's I purchased back in the late 70's that need restoring. Does any one have the peerless part numbers for the 16 ohm and 5.3 ohm 6.5" drivers? Has any one tried to get these from Madisound?

It's me again. The OA-14's are fully restored to original. Used steel wool and oil on the cabinets today. They look, and sound wonderful! Detail, image, and a full soundstage all in a couple of smaller boxes. WOW! The bass is truly amazing for a 6 1/2 inch driver. And the tweeters?!? I'm sure the newer substitutes that all of you are using sound great, but, I can hardly imagine them sounding better than the originals?!? I think I'll listen the way they are for a while. Maybe, just maybe, I'll get the urge to upgrade at a later date.
Now, if I can only find some 2212's for a reasonable price...,
Thank you for all of your help, gentlemen. I truly appreciate it.
Bob B.
