Carlsson OA 50 wire mesh hood

Post by GregLR »

Hi

I just purchased a pair of OA 50's. The protective metal hood is very dirty/discoloured. It also has a few small spots where the paint has come off. Can anyone suggest the best way to clean the hoods. Also, is it possible (and easy) to re-spray them with a coat of paint?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Well I recently washed my OA-6 type 2a:s black protective grills (which were grey and stinked very much tobacco) with hot water & soap using dishes brush (I cleaned BOTH sides)-->the grills are now just as black and stylish as when new and the smell is gone. Of course you can re-spray AFTER washing the grills. As we know, paint is not going to stick to the surface well if it´s dirty.

So I would say that cleaning the grill doesn´t take too much time and will definately make your speakers look much better:)

As a follow up does anybody have any suggestions on how to get rid of the tobacco smell from my oa 50's. It is in the absorbent panels so not sure how to deodourise these. Also I am considering washing the baffle that holds the woofer but I'm unsure what to use as I don't want to stain the wood. I would welcome any suggestions.

Thanks

Hi

Start wish detergent for houshold dishing that usually gets rid of anything bound in fat.
Get mesh thorougly dry.

If need be use spraypaint in mat-black, autodealers should have this.
If rubber around is broken try same auto-parts dealer as or spray-paint.

best regards
