Hello, and I hope this Topic being written in English is okay with your members. I apologize if it offends anyone.

I recently received an pair of Sonab OD 11 speakers, and would like to be able to connect them. I have read on this Forum that the round connector is the 'positive' connection and the flat blade would be the 'negative'. Can someone please confirm this?

Also, I am not able to find the matching connectors for these speakers. My local suppliers are stumped. Can someone please let me know the name of the connectors and where I might be able to find them here in Western Canada? (or elsewhere?)

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi!

Yes, that's correct, round pin positive, flat pin negative.

To look at the DIN-connectors you can try www.elfa.se (switch to international) and then search for "42-082-86".

Although my recommendation would be to remove the DIN- connection and install normal binding-posts instead.
Just attach a small strip f L-shaped plastic* under the speaker and mount ordinary binding-posts on this.

Best regards

Martin

* Or some other solution soo you don't short-circuit the speaker

First of all, thank you for your reply.
The connectors cost under 1 EUR each and freight costs for the connectors is 45 EUR. I can see that adding the binding posts would be a better choice.
Secondly, how to take the speakers apart in order to access the internals?
Thirdly, is there a supply of the components available someplace? It appears there has been some damage to the large speakers. The fabric is torn in a couple of places around the rim of the woofers. They will need to be replaced.

Thanks again.

There is a replacement speaker avaliable (See www.hifikit.se. Speaker B65oa II 8 Ohm). SEK 799:- = 131 CAD.
With shipment it will be rather costly....

A cheap and wery good replacement speaker is SilverFlute W17RC38 8ohms. (www.solen.ca)

Try the local Bang&Olufsen dealer if you want to use the standard connector. It's a wellknown connector in europe and it's called DIN loudspeaker connector (DIN = Deutche IndustriNormen = German standard)
