Sonab NG-11

Post by rollo1 »

Hello.
my name is Rollo from germany.

Maybe the sonab and carlsson profis can help me?

I have an Sonab NG11 Loudspeaker System but i can not found any information in the net.

My question 1: Is this Speakersystem a real SONAB?
My question 2: The year of the production? I think in the early nineties?

Please take a look on imageshack:

Hello Rollo,

Sonab was the manufactor of the Carlsson designed speakers untill the late 1970-ties. From 1982 the Carlsson speakers were manufactured under the Carlsson name and still are. The Sonab name appeared again in the end of the 1980-ties but have no connection to the Carlsson loudspeakers. You can find more information on Carlsson here at the CarlssonPlanet and at http://www.larsenhifi.com (the manufactor).

Habe ich fast vergessen, dafür muss man schwedisch lesen können.... Larsen spricht auch dänisch und englisch. Sonab von heute ist ein "Niedrigpreisangebot" und weit entfernt von Carlssonprodukte.

Cool speakers!!!!

I would sure like to have a pair of those.

I'm sligtly guessing here but...
There where an other swedish loudspeaker designer, Olle Mirsch, involved in the Sonab work.
He made a cheaper version of the OD11 that where later "stopped" by Stig Carlsson.

In the 80's and 90's this Olle made speakers called NG 8 and NG 9 (same "name-style" as these NG 11)

My guess is that this is a Olle Mirsch "sonab speaker" (He somehow had the right to use the brand name "sonab" after the time the company went down. The brand name sonab where bought by Ericsson)

This will put them in the time of the early 80's as you say...

The loudspeaker units used in this NG 11 is probably the same as in his OM2000 loudspeaker.

Regards

But......
This uses the older tweeters so now my guess is that these NG 11 is maybe from the late 80's, I still think that Olle Mirsch is the designer.

Great forum :D

Thanks Roger and Stefan!

It`s a pity! It ist not an original Carlsson but an original scandinavian Product. By the way: since when is the trademark: "Made in Sweden" replaced through "Made in Scandinavian" ?

The carlsson speakersystems almost unknown in Germany but the 70`s Sonab have many of loyalty fan´s. That you can observe it by the very successful auctions on the German-Ebay!

@Roger
I think i`m a litte bit wiser - respecting the different of loudspeakers from Carlsson and Sonab- thanks :D

@Stefan
Thanks for your Information.
Olle Mirsch is a redirection - Thanks a lot!
It is a little mystery. I have read in the german hifi-forum that the Sonab NG 11 was tested in a german Hifi Magazin FonoForum 7/91. Maybe i can buy this magazine an i will post the test here.

Best Regards

Samma aktörs senare "Carlssonhögtalare" hade dock riktiga bl a Vifa och Sinus element.

Sonab OA-14 is quite different from the Sonab NG 11. I would advice you to read the Carlsson History. I am not sure, but I believe there are more information on the OA-14 in several places on the CarlssonPlanet.
