There actually was a wiki here on CarlssonPlanet once upon a time. Here's the old announcement:dsmudger wrote:I was just thinkning the same thing - although for the future maybe a wiki where everybody can contribute (and correct any mistakes, add new translations etc) would be better? I've been doing lots of research on here, faktiskt.se etc for my OA-116 restoration project using Google translate, so if CP were willing to host one, I'd be more than happy to contribute in English all the various stuff I've found out (at the very least an English step-by-step guide with photos? it's better motivation if you know it won't just get lost in a forum somewhere )
I think maybe that sort of format and structure would be easier to use than trying to search forums, but especially so for future English-speaking Sonab fans who don't know what words to search for (not to mention it's something of a fine art interpreting the output of Google translate - for example the word for 'tweeters' so often gets translated as things like "washing states" or "disk users" so even a place on such a wiki where we could add to a small dictionary ('cone tweeter', 'mid-range', 'driver', 'capacitor' etc) would I think be very helpful to non-Swedish-speakers coming here and trying to work all this out for themselves?
Unfortunately it didn't receive any attention what-so-ever. Maybe it's time for a second chance?CarlssonPlanet launches CarlssonWiki

Five years ago when we launched CarlssonPlanet, support was a simple affair comprised of answering a few emails a week. Then in december 2002, we launched the first forum.
The truly wonderful thing about this forum is that it serves as a wonderful "self help" tool because you can ask questions and any hundreds of other users may answer you and provide almost immediate help, answers or input to your question.
As the forum has grown, we have found that this forum's strengths also serve as it's weakness- because many topics and questions are regenerated again and again.
The busier we get, the harder it is for some users to find the answers they are looking for because the answer often lies buried in a long thread or discussion from many months in the past.
Today, I'm proud to announce that we are introducing you to the probably biggest enhancement on CarlssonPlanet since we began using this forum four years ago:
Our very own server-based Wiki tool known as: CarlssonWiki
Some of you are probably familiar with other popular “wiki” websites such as the famous Wikipedia online encyclopedia. At CarlssonPlanet, we felt that this exciting new technology was just the tool that we needed to enhance the vast wealth of knowledge and help provided every day by the CarlssonPlanet Team and users to one another within this community.
As you likely know, the strength of the Wiki system is that all users may add/edit/tune articles and knowledge to help keep information current and topical. With the advent of CarlssonWiki, users will be able to find and utilize information more efficiently and with greater ease than has ever been possible here in a forum based system.
No longer will information simply vanish into thin air as a result of busy forum traffic or the passage of time- users who need assistance can find practically anything they need using a simple search at CarlssonWiki.
And what's better? Knowledgeable users and those who want to help one another can begin adding to the general fund of knowledge that makes the CarlssonPlanet user community such a great place to seek answers. Just sign up for your own account- and edit/add content to your heart's contentment!
The possibilities are absolutely limitless. Over time as all of us contribute to and correct these articles to keep the information current, the wiki will serve as a comprehensive and CORRECT source of information on just about any conceivable topic relating to the Carlsson loudspeakers.
Where is CarlssonWiki?
There are three versions of the wiki.
First, there's the English version, where only articles in English may be posted:
http://en.carlssonplanet.com/wiki
Then there's the Swedish version, where only articles in Swedish may be posted:
http://sv.carlssonplanet.com/wiki
There's also the Media version, where you should upload all images and other media, making it possible for the English and Swedish version to use the same images, without having to upload them to both sites.
http://media.carlssonplanet.com/wiki
We hope that in the very near future, all CarlssonPlanet users will recognize that CarlssonWiki is the place to go for current, topical and immediate answers to nearly any problem they might have. We also hope to see the vast expanse of our user's knowledge shared via this wonderful tool so that many thousands of users can gain from what the rest of us have already learned and shared!
We’re all looking forward to seeing this take off and we’ll be here to answer any questions you might have in getting to know the new system!
So go visit- spend some time feeling your way around! If you see questions/answers here in the forum that you think should be a part of the system, go ahead and add them!
As you'll notice, the wiki is very empty at the moment. This is intended. We at CarlssonPlanet does not wish to create some basic information there, this is YOUR, the users, tool. We are not the editors there, we do not decide what is to be said and what not, that is all up to you.
Everything needs to be created by you.
CarlssonWiki is about all of us- and sharing what we know!
We've seen the future - and it's pretty Wiki'd.
