Sonab OA-5 Typ 2 tweeter replacement

Post by bluecasket »

Hi,

I'm a new member and my question is probably been asked for hundreds of times but here it is: Is there any other replacement tweeter than Peerless 62CT13 ? I mean something new that i could buy 8 pieces at once. My Swedish is bit rusty so i really don't get much from forums here. I love my Sonab speakers and original tweeters are barely functional. All help regarding subject is very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

Toni

Hi Toni,
there is a new replacement tweeter that can be used in OA5.

http://www.hifikit.se/hogtalarelement/h ... ant/t22-oa
If you have difficulty reading swedish I suggest that you paste the link above into Google translate,
then this opens

In my opinion the T22 tweeters are unfortunately too good and too expensive to use in OA5 because there is no bass/midrange element on the planet that both retains the orthoacoustic properties and has sufficiently even frequency response and low distortion to match the T22.
It is smarter to advertise here on CP for used but tested MT20 that have been replaced for CT62 or T22 in upgraded OA14 or the better MT24 fom upgraded OA116 or OA2212.
I believe that would be a more balanced upgrade both soundwise and pricewise for OA5.

but the text is a bit dated, not mentioning the T22 tweeter

Somewhat different opinions are voiced here

You might try google translate on this page too:

If you get the impression that Google translate has messed up the page, don't worry it is usually pretty ok from page 2.
