I’ve just undertaken the enterprise of restoring a pair of OA-14 to .3 version.

This includes replacing the original woofers with Peerless B65-oa 8 Ohm and the original tweeters with Peerless CT62 8 Ohm, as well as positioning them in Y-configuration.

SSC ( The Stig Carlsson Trust) has developed a modification of the cross over in order to address a problem with the CT62. The CT62 has a moderate lift around 5 kHz and in order to attenuate this, some components has to be exchanged in the cross over. The description of the cross over modification can be ordered from SSC for approximately USD 19.

SSC has also developed a new positioning of the tweeters in order to take care of a comb filter effect that is caused by the equidistant grid pattern positioning of the original tweeters. The description of the Y-configuration of the tweeters can be ordered from SSC for approximately USD 23.

I suggest that you send an email to CarlssonPlanet. I’m confident that they will assist you in ordering the documents, with relevant parts translated, from SSC.

Best regards

Thank you kind sir.
I guess with the install of my new peerless mid bass I sill have a nice pair of OA-14 .1's?? I'm using a pair of these http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl ... er=290-305 as my current mid bass, until the Peerless arrives on the boat in another 6 weeks or so. They are working out fairly well. I wanted something inexpensive so I could listen in the interim. They dont go very low, so I am using a subwoofer to augment.

Happy Holidays!!

Hi!

Talk about timing, we are working on these documents right now!

Hopefully they will be available by the end of January or so.

Get back to us by then.

Best regards

Hi Martin,

Sorry I speak English only

I'm jumping into the conversation as I too am in process with an OA-14 upgrade.  I have ordered the replacement bass elements and also have 8 of the CT62 tweeters on the way.

I am also very interested in the Y configuration and the crossover modification to upgrade these speakers.

Is it ok to just trade the current tweeters for the CT62s without the other modifications?  Will there be a significant improvement with just the replacement or should I get the documents on the Y configuration and the crossover modifications?

Any more suggestions on this topic would be appreciated as well as instructions as to who to contact later in January about acquiring the modification documents in English.

Thanks so very much,

Mitch Anderson

Happy New Year!

To trade the tweeters gives You the most substantial improvement - filter-modifications and Y-configuration makes things even better!

Filter-modifications is an adjustment to get the best out of Your new tweeters and Y-configuration was introduced as a solution to specific interference problems between tweeters as they were positioned in the same distane from each another.

Good Luck!

Thank You Björn.

My upgrade parts are supposed to be sent to me in mid January.  I can't wait to get started.  I'll keep my eyes on this site to see if the documents on the mods become available. (plus I'll probably have more questions once I get started.

I never thought I'd find myself wishing I could speak Swedish as there seems to be a wealth of information at this site but just staring at the posts doesn't get me anywhere even with wishful thinking  :)

Cheers,

Did anyone sort out whether the Madison ordered Perless were the same as those sold at HiFiKit in Sweden. The ones from Madison seem to be very cheap???

here's my response from Madisound:

Bob,

Apparently we can get the 831881 woofer. The cost is 43.00 and will take about 30 days to get it from Denmark. Shall we order it for you?

Hope it helps!

Hi Bob!

How about if someone here buys a couple of woofer and tweeters and send them over to you ? It´ll probably get to you in less than 2 weeks

43 dollar är ungefär 300 kr, vilket låter helt osannolikt billigt. Om det nu stämmer låter det som om att det är bättre att beställa från Madisound.

43 USD is a very cheap price for that woofer, nothing near the Swedish retail price. If it's indeed correct you'd be much better off buying those woofers from Madisound, even if the wait will be a bit longer.

Thank you gentlemen. I'm not in a big hurry. Besides, if there's a problem, it will be easier to deal with Madisound here in the US. I'm very glad to hear the price is reasonable as well!!

Thanks again,
Bob B.
