Sonab OA12 new owner!

Post by WinstonSmith »

Hi,
I'm new to the forum so hello everyone from Australia 😀
I've just picked up a pair of OA12s, all of the drivers are in good condition, just very dusty, the cabs need refurbishing and the grills are a bit bent out of shape. What condition can I expect the crossovers to be in, will they need recapping or should I just do it anyway?
Thanks in advance.

It appears you have no replies! from 9 months ago. I haven't been on here for a while myself. I did a restoration / upgrade on a trashed pair I bought. I will tell you, for the upgrade I purchased a new crossover from grafpro (who I think you can find on here - if not, I have contact info), tailored to upgrade speakers. He makes 2 versions; one for "Satori" midwoofer, and a different version for Carlsson B65 midwoofer. Both upgrade to Obi T22 tweeters, which are sweet. I recommend either of those upgrades. The Satori is more expensive than the Carlsson by a bit. The Carlsson has a bit of a crown in the upper midrange - however, it still sounds amazing. Pairs really well with the Pioneer SX-750 receiver my son uses them with.

Here is a link to the restoration of that pair of speakers: https://www.carlssonplanet.com/forum/gallery/album/7
