How to remove and fix bass tube OA51LE2

Post by m00seman »

Hi Guys,

Once I have speaker open how do I safely remove the old bass reflex tube and affix the new one? Is it fixed in with wood glue? Open to any advice.

Cheers,

Julian

Hej Killar,

När jag har högtalare öppna hur gör jag säkert bort den gamla basreflex röret och fästa den nya? Är det fastställts med trälim? Öppen för alla råd.

Cheers,

Julian

Unfortunately,
what I've seen about the bass reflex tube in the OA51 is that you don't remove it - ever!
Or you have to discard the cabinet and put yourself on the waiting list for the next batch of clones.

Thanks Lennart. That makes it a bit tricky as I supposed to increase the length to between 260 and 290mm for the new woofers.

Does anyone else no of any tricks here or should I just stick with the tandard 240mm?

Thanks in advance Julian

Yes,
there is a very cheap and simple solution that is good enough to be permanent.
Pick 3-4 sheets of paper from your printer
cut them to your desired length
align them well
roll them to be a tube with slightly smaller diameter than your existing bas reflex tube
push your paper roll all the way into the bass reflex port, but not deeper
let your paper roll unroll itself by its own tension
Done!

Thanks Lennart! If any one else has any ideas pls let me know or I will just have to see how the existing ones with the A4 mod go.

Cheers,

Julian

Tack Lennart! Om någon annan har någon idé pls låta mig veta eller jag kommer bara att se hur de befintliga med A4 mod gå.

Cheers,

Julian

Hi Guys,

Has there been any updates on lengthening the bass tube. If not I guess I will keep running with A4 mod.

Cheers Moose

M00seman,

As far as I know Lennart's advice (to use A4 papers) is the standard solution to turn the bass reflex tube into the desired length. I'm sure there's a more advanced, more expensive and more difficult way to obtain the same result, but I doubt you'll hear any difference. ;-)
