CarlssonPlanet.com now runs on SSL

Today we implemented SSL encryption for all connections to the site, and are now redirecting all HTTP requests to HTTPS.

Google recently announced that it is calling for HTTPS everywhere on the web for increased privacy and security. Here at CarlssonPlanet we wholeheartedly agree, so our entire site now runs on SSL.

Your browser should now always display a lock icon next to the forum URL, indicating that the connection is secure.

In some threads you may notice a browser message or see a broken lock icon indicating that not all elements are secure on the page. That happens when external (not hosted here on our server) images are embedded in posts. It's normal and nothing to worry about.

If you experience any problems with the SSL connection, please let us know.

In other site-related news, we've also migrated to run the site on PHP 7, which is the biggest upgrade to the programming language since 2004 when PHP 5 was launched. PHP is the programming language that the entire site runs on, and the biggest difference for you, our visitors, is that this version is up to 2x faster and consumes 50% less server memory - which should lead to the entire site feeling faster and more responsive.
