Hi,
Lucky enough to have picked up a pair of OA51 here in Australia. Looking at purchasing the 51LE2 upgrade kit, and new absorbers as they didnt come with speakers. The new ones evidently mount on the back of the speaker. Does anyone have a picture of how that is done? Have a picture of my 51s attached. Cheers m00seman

Hi
Regarding the absorbers you can use larger panels than original.
It is a common upgrade.
You can also make hem in standard size if you want.
There are two holes with threaded inserts in the box if you like to screw them on.
If you make a bigger panel it can rest on the speaker without fasteners.

Or if the link does not work search the fora for "elefantöra" or was it in plural "elefantöron"?
Are the drivers still OK? If so I think you should with making a damping panel, perhaps the bigger one.
If your Mid-woofers suffer from foam-rot you can get help from Speakerbits in Australia.
if you need the measures for the damping panel, send me you adress in a PM and I´ll forward that info to you.
Best regards
Martin

Thanks Martin. Does anyone have a picture of a pair of OA51LE2 with the later model absorbers that attach on the back?

Re: Purchasing 51LE2 upgrade kit
Hello Julian,
Those "elefantöron" (the elephant ears) are DIY. They were suggested in the patent, but I do not think they were produced or sold. Here are some examples of how they can be made:
Use 45-50 mm thick mineral wool for thermal insulation.
The speakers should be right up with their backs against the wall. Just make a suitable cut-out in the mineral wool. Dress it with some textile that let the sound pass.

Hi Julian!
I think this picture shows you what the present absorbents that you can purchase from Larsen HiFi (same as the OA 51 LE2 kit) looks like.
