Hello forum members,
I have the following question. For a friend I am check out a pair of 2212. There was an imbalance in the speakers. After cleaning the contacts and measuring the elements, I saw that the polarity at the middle register on the right was not correct wired.
Later i also saw that 4 ohm speakers were used at the bottom of the bass units during an earlier revision.
My question is; are these common used units for overhaul in the past? And should there possibly be a 2.2ohm resistor in between?

You can read about different replacement units here: http://carlssonkult.se/basersattare.aspx
If the speakers sound alright then keep listening. Probably the foam surrounds are old and brittle. Correct new replacements in both 8 and 5.3 ohm you find here: https://www.hifikit.se/b65oa-iv.html

Thanks for the reply. But i maybe did not explain it right. The speakers are renovated by a previous owner. There are replacement for the 8ohm and 5.6ohm from Peerless. But the 5.6ohm are 4ohm?
They do not sound bad. But would it be wise to put a small resistor in series to get about 5.6ohm?

Oh, i now see the link.
My 8ohm's are the : 831881
My 5.6ohm's are the : 830803 exept there is a sticker with 4ohm on the back.
I did not mesure the 830803. But i think i let it rest for now.

Hi!
I had a chat with mr Ingvar Öhman a few years ago when I where gonna restore a pair of oa116.
Tweeters where good, midrange had no surroundings at all and woofers where 8ohm.
So I asked if I should lok for orginal 5,6ohm or buy Silverflute 4ohm and he said that
4ohm if I use SF is close enough without series resistor i they meashure on the
high side of the specs tolerance scale.
But thats for oa116.
Nowdays you can buy new woofers with correkt impedance.
To put a series resistor will theoretically lower the output from the woofers and dissipate heat.
