The new version was presented in 1996 and was equipped with completely new elements and filter components and additional vibration absorbents. The principle with extensive damping of the early sound reflexes remains and the cabinet looks almost identical. However by using the new components, the quality improvement is enormous compared to the 1980’s version. With well produced recordings the walls in the room disappears like magic and the listener suddenly sits in the most fantastic concert rooms or studios shivering of delight.
A new speaker has rarely been so carefully measured and listened to before the presentation. Just to find the correct type of damping blanket to be positioned behind the bass element took Stig Carlsson two years!
The material for the listening and blanket search, was mainly the demanding and fascination first recording by Sofia Gubaidulinas symphony “Stimmen – Verstummen” with the Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Gennady Rozhdestvensky (Chandos). But also a large number of other recordings with modern percussion or electronic music were used. However there were few recordings Stig Carlsson really fully approved, as he almost always found that the first sound reflexes wasn’t enough taken care of in the recordings.

Lead Editor Per Gulbrandsen had the opportunity to listen to the Gubaidulinasymfonin in Stig Carlssons home, through the, at the time new developed OA-52.2 speakers powered by Mark-Levinson electronics and NAD 208 power amplifier. A memory for a lifetime!
The OA-52.2 were sold from 1996 until fall 2002.
